OUR MISSION

With terrorism, crime, civil unrest, and natural disasters on the rise worldwide, the Burns Group International Counterterrorism Training Center was founded in 2021 to inform and educate the public and counterterrorism professionals on evolving global terrorism and security threats, provide tailored intelligence and educational products that enhance the work of organizations and individuals working to fight against terrorism and organized crime.

As a nonprofit non-governmental educational organization, BGICTC’s mission is to:  inform and educate the public, monitor threats from terrorism, organized crime, piracy, illegal wildlife trade, and social unrest. We collect and analyze intelligence, produce geopolitical risk, economic, safety, security and intelligence reports that allow humanitarian organizations to operate more safely in hostile environments; we provide quality professional training programs; as well as funding and networking opportunities. Simply put, we are a strategic partner that provides training, operational support, and monitor malign activities across Africa and Southeast Asia for the boots on the ground in the war against the illegal wildlife trade and organized crime.

Our volunteers work hand in hand with the organizations we assist and their local personnel in the communities they protect, and our work helps instill a culture of competence, learning, and leadership by empowering the local communities to protect their own land and resources, which in turn helps the entire community succeed.   We deliver or programs in remote, dynamic, and demanding environments where access to quality professional development and continuing education is in high demand but unavailable.  Our programs develop leaders and instructors who will increase the security and economy of the communities and ecosystems they live in and protect.

On the home front, BGICTC’s mission is focused on providing support, resources, and empowering combat veterans, retired law enforcement, and first responders, as well as helping those leaving service transition into civilian careers and lives. Our goal is to make a difference by preventing suicide in our special forces, law enforcement, and first responder communities, proactively assist in their mental health recovery, and keep families together.
