OPERATION INCA

RURAL PROTECTORS FACE EXTRAORDINARILY DEADLY THREATS.

In National Parks, Wildlife Reserves, and Rural Areas throughout Africa, Rural Protective Services Teams and Rangers face tremendous threats from sophisticated, well-armed, well-trained, Farm Attack gangs and Poachers backed by international criminal organizations, and even terrorist groups.  Burns Group International Counterterrorism Training Center’s OPERATION INCA is an on-going advisory and training support services mission that helps under-funded Rural Protective Services teams, Farm Watch teams, Rangers, and anti-poaching units get the advanced level specialized training and skills they need to defend their communities and win the battle on Farm Attacks and the Illegal Wildlife Trade.

WHAT WE DO

IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM

BGICTC Subject Matter Experts conduct a thorough Target Study and Mission Analysis which includes field reconnaissance, to identify how our expertise and network of Subject Matter Experts and specialized skills makes us uniquely positioned to add value to and increase readiness in an area that currently lacks appropriate operational readiness and security, to offer solutions in areas where rural communities and wildlife are threatened.

DEVELOP A SOLUTION

We work in a collaborative process with local personnel and communities. BGICTC conducts a Target Study and Threat Assessment, then identifies the resources needed to facilitate our effort, and develops a unique and targeted solution with the goal to make those who protect South Africa’s rural communities and threatened wildlife highly skilled, capable, and proactive protectors in the war against Farm Attacks and the Illegal Wildlife Trade.

DEEDS NOT WORDS

Our team of Subject Matter Experts and Instructors invest time on the ground to understand the threat and develop tailored solutions including dynamic High-Threat Rural Protective Services and Tactical Canine Handler training programs. We deliver new skills, capabilities, and safety to South African Rural Protective Services Teams, Rangers, anti-poaching units, and the communities and wildlife they protect.  All our programs are defensive in nature and operate on the theory that through proper assessment, planning, countermeasures, and situational awareness, threats can be identified in the planning phase and avoided or mitigated, and this allows Rural Protective Services Teams and Rangers avoid violence and increase life-safety for themselves and the communities and wildlife they protect.
